From Copenhagen, with love x

I completely forgot to mention in my post yesterday that I'm off to Copenhagen this weekend. It's fashion week over there at the moment, so me and a few Uni friends thought we'd go over and check it out. I'm so, so excited to go, as I've always adored Scandinavian fashion and interiors. I'll be sure to take my camera with me and report back.

Have you guys ever been to Copenhagen, what would you recommend doing/seeing?

What do you think?

I've got pretty bad at taking little breaks from my blog, I can only blame an all consuming photography brief that has sucked up every little bit of my free time. Alas, the end is near so I thought I'd take a break from my ever lasting relationship with photoshop and show you what I've been up to.
I know I have said before I don't like mixing my blog with my university work, but this is a one off and I thought you guys might enjoy it. Here's a few images from part 2 of the brief titled "The Collector" - Hope you enjoy...

These are a few of my favourites and it properly shows you all the little bits and bobs I found to use in the shoot. A lot of the items are highly personal - my late Grandfathers driving licence from the 70's and his Polish I.D card for example. Other pieces are mostly vintage or picked up for pennies in charity shops and for the clothes, I thank my family and boyfriend for letting me have a good rummage in their draws.

What do you think? I'd love some feedback...

A Birthday gift...

I thought I'd share with you one of the gifts I received for my 21st Birthday - I couldn't wait to photograph it. My mum and dad picked up this vintage card game called "Pit" from a charity shop in Ludlow, the reasoning behind it was purely for the nautical influence as you'll see on the cards. I love everything about it; the tattered box, the illustrations on the instructions and the fact that it could be over 100 years old. It's amazing to think how many people have played with it. Take a look.

I'm still trying to work out the general gist of the game, with a bit of help from Wikipedia I gather that you bid for commodities and depending on how old the version of "Pit" you own is, the commodities differ. Never the less, I think it will look lovely sat on my shelf, or just placed on a white chair for the next person to open.

Have you guys ever played "Pit", or do you own any vintage games?

Snow day

Having a Birthday in January can always bring unexpected weather - Yesterday I celebrated my 21st. I had a lovely time opening gifts and drinking champagne with my family, just what I wanted. However, this morning I woke up to a heavy blanket of snow covering as far as I could see, it scuppered a few plans and living in the countryside it made us completely housebound. I'm not the biggest fan of snow, but if you can't beat it, join it hey - Here's a few photos of the day (using my new Birthday present)!

As you may have guessed by the hint above, I got given a new camera for my Birthday. Today was the perfect opportunity to get to grips with it, dodging my two wild dogs Bruno and Hector as they darted around in the snow.

How has the weather been for you guys? Have you got any lovely photos in the snow?

ps. Yes. My dogs do have scarves on!

Help a girl out?

I tend to keep my University and Blog life pretty separate, but it's come to a point where I could do with some of your help.. In fact all of your help. I'm currently working on a conceptual retail experience project based around the theme of Scandinavian design, and I need a little bit of primary research. This is where you lovely lot come in. If you could ever so kindly fill in a questionnaire for me, I'll leave the link here I will be ever so, ridiculously happy.

Thank you

Stratford-Upon-Avon

Sadly it's nearing the end of my University break - I have a severe case of the Christmas blues and a pile of incomplete briefs on my desk. To cheer myself up a bit, Matt took me to Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birth place of probably the most famous Englishman of them all, William Shakespeare. If you're a fan of black and white buildings, olde worlde shops and a good ol' British pub, Stratford makes for a lovely day out. Take a look...

I wore my new skirt featured here, with my ever faithful leather jacket. The weather in the U.K is some sort of sick joke at the moment, it can go from monsoon like storms to days like today when you'd think it's mid spring. There I go with my procedure rant about the weather!

Have you guys ever visited Stratford-Upon-Avon? We're also wanting to take a trip to The Cotswolds, would love any recommendations for any nice villages to go and see?

I've been shopping #6

When I go shopping I have a motto that follows me around like a squawky parrot on my shoulder. It goes by "If you don't love it, don't buy it". In turn, I don't often buy a lot, but when I do, it's usually because I can't stop thinking about it (I've been known to have dreams about shoes after seeing them in a shop). I spotted this skirt yesterday and couldn't wait to do a post on it, as I've been after one like this for about a year. Take a look..

The version of the skirt I originally wanted and couldn't get my hands on was from Topshop. This ones from Miss Selfridge, a shop I'm not naturally drawn too, but often find a little gems. The skirt is a gorgeous khaki green, which is perfect for the wintery months, but will also be a brilliant transitional piece for spring. I'm hoping to wear it tomorrow, so I will ask my partner in crime nicely if he can take some pictures of me with it on. I'll leave the link here for the skirt if you want to check it out yourselves.

Have you guys picked up any new pieces for the new year?
